Voice of OC was founded in 2009 by veteran investigative journalist Norberto Santana. The first edition was published in March of 2010 and has been published continuously since then. Voice of OC Is read by more than half a million Orange County residents every month - but that number swells to well over a million in the lead up to elections, during disasters such as wildfires and major news stories such as the October 2021 oil spill or the FBI investigation into Anaheim/Angels corruption. During the Pandemic, we were the only free and reliable news source covering Orange County's response to Covid 19 and information on how to access a wide variety of services. Since our news site is free, the most vulnerable members of the community can access important information 24/7. Our news was so critically important that Voice of OC and Norberto Santana were honored by Latino Health Access, Cal State Fullerton - even the Orange County Register named Norberto Santana as one of the county's top influencers in 2021.

We can only cover as much news as our 5 reporters, and a handful of interns can physically accomplish. To grow we need to add more reporters and editors. To do this we rely on readers and especially recurring donors, to support our work.

Orange County, California. We do not write news of one particular sub-group - we write for all of OC. However, our news is especially focused on the information needs of the working class neighborhoods and the marginalized.
