OUR STORY

EverFree’s mission is to end exploitation with better data, better care, and stronger collaboration.

Mission Statement

EverFree’s mission is to end exploitation with better data, better care, and stronger collaboration.

Background Statement

Since 2015, EverFree has been dedicated to offering holistic care to survivors of human trafficking in Uganda and the Philippines. Our programs offer immediate support as well as economic and education opportunities to equip survivors with the knowledge and skills to gain independence and lasting freedom. Through our first-hand experience, we recognized that while many short-term interventions for survivors have been well-researched and funded, there is a significant lack of evidence-based programs that focus on fostering resilience and facilitating long-term recovery. The absence of proper program evaluation not only impedes the effectiveness of anti-trafficking efforts, but restricts sustainable progress for survivors.

Impact Statement

EverFree is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is on a mission to end exploitation with better care, better data, and stronger collaboration. Through our relentless efforts on the frontlines, we gain a deep understanding of the systems that perpetuate vulnerability and exploitation. This understanding fuels our unwavering commitment to drive impactful change within these systems. We focus on three core solutions to drive change:

Better Care: Delivering trauma-informed, holistic survivor care through our Signature Sites, tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
Better Data: Deploying our Freedom Lifemap tool, empowering organizations worldwide to track survivor progress, refine interventions, and improve outcomes through data-driven insights.
Stronger Collaboration: Unifying global efforts through the EverFree Global Network, fostering collective impact and scaling best practices across regions.

Through these solutions, EverFree is ensuring more survivors receive the services they need to achieve lasting freedom, communities will be equipped to effectively recognize and prevent trafficking, and effective interventions will be measured, scaled, and replicated to reduce the prevalence of exploitation around the world.

Needs Statement

Freedom is a basic human right, yet 50 million people live in modern slavery and 1 in 10 children globally live in exploitation. Despite global efforts, human trafficking has increased 22% worldwide in just the last 5 years and less than 1% of survivors receive the care they need.

Current efforts to prevent trafficking and support survivors lack critical data on what's effective and how to properly evaluate their impact. This lack of data and interventions not only increases the risk of re-victimization, but leaves organizations without the ability to make significant progress in tackling human trafficking within their communities. Effective prevention and recovery require clarity on what works—and today, that clarity is sorely missing.

Moreover, community workers and service providers are overwhelmed by the sheer volume and complexity of trafficking cases. They are often forced to operate with limited data, lacking tools to optimize their services and allocate scarce resources where they are needed most. Without a clear understanding of survivor needs and proven recovery pathways, global anti-trafficking efforts are constrained in their ability to scale, replicate, and achieve meaningful collective impact.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director

The fight against trafficking is at a critical juncture. In spite of global efforts to curb it, the criminal industry has increased by 22% in just the last 5 years. The world still doesn’t have data on what programs are effective in supporting survivors or preventing exploitation. To make progress, we need new solutions. Solutions that are informed by data and survivor voices, and solutions that address the systemic causes of exploitation and re-exploitation.
In 2023, we began piloting new solutions. We launched our social-tech solution, Freedom Lifemap, in 8 locations around the world. For the first time, organizations had the tools to understand the unique strengths and vulnerabilities of survivors, to understand the impact of their existing programs, and to improve their programs to better respond to the direct needs of survivors and those vulnerable to trafficking.
Through our global launch, we’ve begun identifying local and global trends, and we’re uniting frontline responders around the world to respond. We even had the opportunity to present our work to the United Nations.
At the same time, we’ve continued our direct services supporting survivors of human trafficking. Our survivor care programs continue to serve the most vulnerable women and children - including children as young as 4 years old. We launched two new programs designed by survivor leaders in Uganda and the Philippines, and we celebrated the first graduating class of our Freedom First
Institute.
There is still so much work to be done. Uganda and the Phillippines continue to be global hotspots for trafficking. Thanks to a generous donor, we acquired land in Uganda and are constructing a world-class Dream Village for child survivors. And in 2024, we are ramping up the scale of Freedom Lifemap across the US and the world.
This work wouldn’t exist without the generosity of our incredible community. The impact reaches so many lives and has the power to transform the entire fight against human trafficking.
