Background Statement

‬This organization was inspired by my mother, who was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and came‬
‭ to the U.S. at just 2 years old. She carried a deep understanding of life’s journey, was a‬
‭ voracious reader, and was someone who would literally give the shirt off her back to anyone in‬
‭ need. She fed the hungry, offered advice to anyone who asked, and stood as the pillar of our‬
‭ community—a beacon of strength for all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and wisdom‬
‭ lives on through her children and through‬‭ Wings of‬‭ Kindness / Alas de Bondad‬‭ , which was‬
‭ created in her honor.‬

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director

‬‬On Friday, December 22nd, 2023, just a few days before Christmas, I experienced the‬
‭ heartbreaking loss of my mother. She was a woman every single mom could relate to—always‬
‭ finding a way to provide for her children and grandchildren, no matter the obstacles. Her‬
‭ passing left an unfillable void, but it also sparked a mission within me to carry on her legacy of‬
‭ kindness and unwavering support. Despite the grief, I chose to honor our community by‬
‭ continuing with our first annual Christmas toy drive and giveaway on the day of her passing. It’s‬
‭ a tradition I remain deeply committed to.‬ I to am a product of a working class single mother and know the struggles she faced to make ends meet. The challenges she faced to request basic aid for my siblings and I to thrive.
