OUR STORY

At Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad, our mission is to uplift single mothers, children, and working families in the Latino community by providing essential resources, meaningful support, and opportunities for empowerment. This work comes from lived experience and a deep love for our community. We create spaces where families feel safe, supported, and cared for whether that means access to basic needs, a warm meal, or connection to resources. Through our events and outreach, we bring people together to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and remind every family that they are not alone.

Mission Statement

At Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad, our mission is to uplift single mothers, children, and working families in a predominantly Latino community of anaheim and throughout orange county. By providing essential resources, meaningful support, and opportunities for empowerment.
We create safe, welcoming spaces where families can access basic needs, connect to resources, and build a sense of belonging. Rooted in lived experience and community, our work brings people together to foster self-love, resilience, and long-term stability.

Background Statement

Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad is rooted in community and built on trust. Founded by Anaheim native Marina Mondragon, the organization was created from a deep understanding of the needs within the community and the gaps in access to essential resources. Having been born and raised in Anaheim and experiencing firsthand the challenges of limited access to support, Marina developed a vision to build a community where families feel seen, supported, and connected.
Inspired by both lived experience and the legacy of her mother, who passed away in 2023, Wings of Kindness 2 Alas de Bondad focuses on bringing resources directly into the community creating spaces where dignity, acceptance, and support are accessible right outside people’s doorstep.
Marina Mondragon is a multipreneur and community advocate with a vision to create a community where every family is treated with dignity, feels accepted, and has access to essential resources close to home. Through Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad, she is building a trusted, welcoming space where families can meet their basic needs, connect to support, and experience a true sense of belonging.
Her work brings resources directly into the community through accessible events and partnerships, uplifting single mothers, immigrant families, children, and working families while creating pathways for stability, growth, and long-term impact.

Impact Statement

‭‭‭Since launching in 2023 with our first Halloween event, Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad has grown into a trusted community hub serving families across Anaheim. We now host large-scale events supporting over 1,000 families at a time, and thousands of families each year depend on our events to help bridge gaps in access to essential resources.
By bringing food, clothing, school supplies, and community services directly into neighborhoods, we reduce barriers and create spaces rooted in trust, dignity, and belonging for single mothers, children, and working families.

Needs Statement

Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad is outgrowing its current space as demand for our services continues to increase. Thousands of families rely on our events to access essential resources, and we need funding to expand into a larger facility with adequate storage and the ability to grow and develop our mental health program.
With additional support, we will increase our capacity to provide basic needs, resource connections, and financial assistance, creating a more sustainable and accessible hub for the community.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director

On December 22, 2023, just days before Christmas, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my mother. She was the kind of woman every single mother could relate to resilient, resourceful, and always finding a way to provide for her children and grandchildren, no matter the circumstances.
Her passing left a void that can never be filled, but it also ignited a deeper purpose within me to carry forward her legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. Even in the midst of grief, I made the decision to continue with our first annual Christmas toy drive and giveaway on the very day of her passing. That moment became a defining commitment not just to honor her, but to show up for our community when it matters most.
I am also a product of a working-class, single-mother household. I understand firsthand the challenges families face when trying to access basic resources and support. I saw the strength it took for my mother to ask for help and the barriers that often stood in the way. Those experiences shaped my vision.
Today, as the founder of Wings of Kindness Alas de Bondad, I am committed to building a community where families are treated with dignity, feel accepted, and have access to essential resources close to home. Through our work, we are creating spaces rooted in trust, where no one has to struggle in silence and every family has the opportunity to thrive.
