Youth Trumpet Scholars

Our mission is to create a community of trumpet-playing kids in SoCal and to provide extraordinary, life-changing opportunities for them; FREE-OF-CHARGE.

This project began with 2 friends talking over dinner. Myself, a trumpet player who plays in the Laguna Beach Community Band and my friend, Ilaria Accorsi. We both have teenage daughters. We contacted Andrea Giuffredi with thoughts of bringing him over from Italy to give masterclasses to trumpet players and a concert. The project literally exploded into something much different than we could have imagined. We are all volunteers, all 15 of us: musicians, educators, a therapist, an ER doctor and an engineer. We all care about music and youth.

We have included a promotional video which was created by a professional videographer using clips from our inaugural concert which occurred on Sunday, September 22nd, at The Barclay Theatre in Irvine.

A month before our event date, a major donor backed out, leaving us underfunded for our ambitious project. We had no choice but to move forward with our plans. With the help of everyone on the team, including the professional musicians and the music composer, Gordon Goodwin, we launched a gofundme page. We have raised $5,000 so far, but this is not enough to cover all our expenses.

Our inaugural event was attended by 50 trumpet-playing kids age 12-18 representing many different demographics from across SoCal.

Our goal is to provide extraordinary music opportunities for trumpet-playing kids in SOCal and to make music accessible to all.
