Dr. Faranak Herrera (DO, MPH), Founder and CEO, is the parent of a child with 16p11.2 deletion, a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with 10+ years in primary care, and a public health professional (UC Berkeley Molecular Cell Biology; UN and public health research experience). In her quest to help her son with 16p11.2 deletion, she has made strong relationships in both medicine and research due to her own background in public health and cellular biology research. When she identified the need for a standard of care for this rare disease, she partnered with Dr. Wendy Chung to co-author and publish the clinical care guidelines for the management of this condition in the primary care setting – *Health Supervision for Children and Adolescents with 16p11.2 Deletion Syndrome*. She organized the inaugural 16p11.2 Deletion Conference (2025), uniting families, clinicians and researchers, led a community needs assessment of care gaps, and completed Global Genes advocacy leadership training.
