Martha Nix Wade has had tremendous success as a former child actress (co-starring on The Waltons, Days of Our Lives, and many other television shows), and continues to be active as a writer, informative speaker, and executive director. She also received an MA in Intercultural Studies from BIOLA University, a teaching credential from Whittier College, and a BA from UCLA in dance. Martha's messages come from her personal experience of surviving sexual abuse. No matter the audience or the focus of her talk, the impact on listeners is powerful. It offers insight, knowledge, courage, and empowerment to prevent child molestation, offer healing tools for those recovering from this unthinkable crime, or discovering the ways in which we need to love and respect those around us. Her passion is to educate and empower adults and children to avoid becoming victims of sexual abuse and to present answers and viable techniques and tools, offering hope and strength to victims in the aftermath. Through her artistic talents and her vulnerability, she creates a safe and appropriate environment to discuss the tendencies of sexual assault, without unleashing disturbing details concerning her own abuse. Her autobiography, My Secret Life: A Truthful Look at a Child Actors Victory over Sexual Abuse, helps victims of sexual assault know that they are not alone! Martha's understanding of trauma and grief magnified when her 18-year-old son, Ryder, was killed in a motorcycle accident January 15, 2021. Martha and her husband of 28 years, Gary, live in Orange County, California.
