Background Statement
For over 24 years now, AccessCal continuously strives to enhance the quality of life and foster self-determination through direct health and human services and has done so with the vision of each individual leading a dignified and enriched life. Primary clients include underserved, low-income, homeless, domestic violence survivors, and at-risk families including immigrants and refugees residing throughout Southern California with a focus on Orange County. AccessCal serves clients from all over the world to help strengthen their mental and physical health well-being and assist with their economic, linguistic and cultural integration in the community at-large. Preserving mental health, attaining employment, securing affordable housing, practicing good citizenship are outcomes of our programs. AccessCal began as an organization serving two clients with a $2,000 budget in 1998 and has grown to be a full-fledged family resource center with a current 2.1 million dollar budget serving over 12,000 clients annually with over 65,000 units of services. On a daily basis AccessCal delivers 100 services and our staff has the capacity to serve in 19 different languages! AccessCal currently provides: Mental Health Services, Health Coverage Access, Employment Services, Emergency Financial Assistance, Immigration & Citizenship Assistance, Client Advocacy, Translation & Interpretation, ESL, Parenting, and Youth Mentoring. AccessCal is recognized at the nationwide level for our work in serving the community and has been described as a role model at the state level for quality service delivery.
Impact Statement
AccessCal has recently moved to its new office space in Anaheim in which there is more space to expand programming to more populations. AccessCal has also brought in more therapists for the mental health department and has expanded to providing services in 21 different languages. AccessCal has been successfully assisting new arrivals including the Afghan and Ukrainian newcomers.
Needs Statement
AccessCal needs more general operating funds to sustain programs.
