Health Services
HEALTH PILLAR: The AltaMed Foundation keeps families healthy and thriving by ensuring access to comprehensive, culturally sensitive primary care, from childhood to senior years. We focus on prevention, early detection, and continuous care through routine screenings, immunizations, and chronic disease management, so communities can avoid health crises before they begin. Our work supports individuals across every stage of life: from pediatric immunizations and well-child checkups to wellness visits, integrated dental care, essential screenings like mammograms, and behavioral health support. With bilingual, community-rooted providers, integrated services (medical, dental, behavioral health, senior care), and coordinated care pathways, AltaMed removes barriers to access and makes quality health care easier for families to navigate, regardless of age, income, or background. In doing so, we strive to reduce health disparities, promote long-term wellness, and support strong, healthy communities.

Community Empowerment
EQUITY PILLAR: The AltaMed Foundation makes targeted investments to support programs and initiatives that work to address social determinants of health and empower our communities. Examples include: encouraging patients to vote, advocate, and participate civically; launching a Nursing School Collaborative in partnership with Annenberg School of Nursing and University of LaVerne; and leveraging technology to reduce patients' barriers to accessing care. By giving patients the tools, confidence, and support they need to access care and by strengthening the systems that shape daily life beyond the clinic, AltaMed helps ensure that every person, regardless of background, can live a healthy and dignified life.
-Annually 410,000+ civically engaged patients and community members
-Graduate 250 nurses and LVNs in the next five years
Community Care Fund
LIFE PILLAR: AltaMed’s Community Cares Program provides immediate aid to families in more than 25 Orange County ZIP codes and directly impacts hundreds of patients. By providing micro-grants and basic need items to our patients, this Program ensures that temporary setbacks do not become a permanent crisis. Patients' top needs for financial support include groceries, bills, furniture/appliances, and medical expenses. The financial support and microgrants provided by our foundation enable patients to meet basic needs, keep their jobs, remain in their homes, and stay in school.
-900+ patients annually served
-93% of emergency requests for direct relief fulfilled
Community Programs
PROGRAMS PILLAR: The AltaMed Foundation cultivates transformative pipeline programs designed to help future generations thrive beyond the walls of our clinic. Our signature initiatives include: workforce development programming that creates career pathways for individuals from high school students to medical residents, equipping them with the skills, mentorship, and opportunities to succeed in healthcare and beyond; high school to college pathways that empower young people to pursue higher education initiatives and realize their full potential through guidance, resources, and support that open doors to college and professional success; and the AltaMed Art Collection, the largest private collection of Chicano art in the country.
-200,000+ community members served annually
-Annually ~90-100 high school participants graduate from Escalera, our STEM-based programming for those interested in health care careers
