One Family at a Time- everyday necessities
Breast Cancer Angels provides gift cards to local stores for the needs of children in the home for school clothes and supplies. At Christmas, we also provide our clients' children with toys and gifts to help lift their spirits. At our annual Christmas party last year, 73 children were showered with Christmas presents through our Toy Drive.
This allows for them to have new clothing and the ability to buy diapers
Medical Co-Pays and Cobra Costs
We provide this aid as-needed. We do not want to see women lose their insurance in the middle of treatment or not be able to get their prescriptions filled. Last year, $1,700 in medical bills were paid.
Medical bills and often visits add up quickly for our clients undergoing breast cancer treatments. We provide assistance to help offset some of these costs, on an as-needed basis.
Housing Needs
Breast Cancer Angels assists with emergency housing costs. We assist with monthly housing costs for women in treatment for metastatic breast cancer and women struggling to complete treatment until they can return to work. Last year we gave $84,000 in housing, rental and mortgage payments to keep our clients from becoming homeless. And, $5,000 in utilities were assisted with, along with $79,000 in transportation assistance, including gas cards, bus fares and car payments.
These funds provide supplemental housing costs for women undergoing treatment. Many clients have to reduce their work hours in order to undergo various treatments and donations toward this program prevent them from having to choose between work and their health.
Food Program
Breast Cancer Angels provides gift cards to the market of the client’s choice; the dollar amount depends on family size and need. Last year, our food program provided $220,000.
Families struggling to support their loved ones with breast cancer will not go without food.
Transportation
Breast Angels provides Uber gift cards and Gas gift cards for individuals undergoing treatment. This program is needed to allow them to continue to get to their treatment facilities.
They have the ability to go to their treatments.
