Mission Statement
The mission of CBF is to prevent the pain and trauma of burn injuries to children and to heal and give children who have suffered severe burns the opportunity to reach their full potential physically, psychologically, and socially.
Background Statement
Working with a renowned plastic surgeon and burn specialist, the late McLean Stevenson, child advocate and actor, established the Children's Burn Foundation when he saw the need for care for children with severe burns. Since then, the organization's mission has grown beyond funding reconstructive surgery for children with severe burns to include services supporting the short-term emergency needs of families, as well as fire safety and burn prevention education programs for children, parents and other caregivers. We continue to partner with doctors locally and worldwide to bring burn care to survivors. We have also partnered with other non-profits in developing countries to bring burn prevention education. Additionally, we continue to partner with centers of excellence worldwide to provide burn care for children closer to their homes.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
Burn prevention saves lives!
Burn-related injuries to children require long periods of rehabilitation, multiple skin grafts, and extensive physical therapy. Private, state and federally sponsored health insurance plans only
cover part of the medical costs associated with reconstructive surgery and after-care. Specialized
Face masks, prescriptions, and supplies are not covered by CCS reimbursement, California's primary funding source for children without private health insurance. Moreover, burn-related injuries to children often leave patients with lifelong physical and psychological disabilities that can result in significant financial burdens for the patient's family and caregivers.
The Children's Burn Foundation is often the last resort for low-income families with child burn survivors. CBF provides everything from surgical care, rehab, housing for family members to stay with their child and even food vouchers for the entire family—all at no cost!
Statement from the Board Chair/President
We are proud to support the children and families that need our help. We hope that you will consider this worthy cause.
