Climate Mitigation/Adaptation Program for Disadvantaged Communities
When working in the field of sustainability and climate change mitigation, we must include programming for disadvantaged communities that bear the brunt of the climate crisis. The program for this community will offer information on incentives and rebates designated for this community from government, nonprofit and utility agencies. Educational programs will include climate change mitigation strategies and low-cost solutions for a healthy and sustainable home. Finally, we will offer free supplies such as LED lightbulbs, fans, smart thermostats, trees and induction cooktops.
This program goal is to reach overlooked communities that are suffering the most from extreme weather and lack of resources to mitigate climate change. Funds will be used in an outreach campaign, to run workshops and events, and finally to offer supplies to help this community adapt to climate change events. Participants will also be better equipped to take advantage of government and utility agency incentives that subsidize their transition to a healthier and carbon-reduced household.
