Youth Program
The Center OC's Youth Program provides youth with a safe space to gather and develop positive identities through weekly facilitated discussions, leadership development, and social events such as the yearly Queer Prom. Our Youth program staff also support Gay Straight Alliances within Orange County schools, working directly with school administrators, faculty and school board officials to create safe and affirming schools for our LGBTQ youth.
Youth who spent time in the Youth Group report that it is life changing for them. They report improvements in confidence and feelings of self-worth. Some report that The Center OC prevented them from taking their own lives. For the very first time, many youth have adults and peers they can confide in. Because of this, they can begin to address problems they have been facing at school or at home, be connected to caring resources as needed, and get on with the developmental tasks that are required to prepare for adulthood that their heterosexual peers are mastering.
Transitions Health and Wellness
Trans*itions Health and Wellness is the only trans* specific health and wellness program in Orange County. Trans*itions exists to help guide the trans* community, and their families, throughout their transition, along with providing education and resources to allied businesses and community members. Services include: Trans orientation, legal name and gender marker clinics, referrals to culturally competent healthcare, counseling, hormone services, groups, and events.
Everyone has access to culturally competent health care and everyone is free to live an authentic life.
