In-Person Cinema

The Frida hosts hundreds of screenings annually at its two auditorium cinema in Downtown Santa Ana, including nearly a dozen annual area film festivals, film screening series, and screenings of local high school and college level independent films. The Frida's core programming includes newly released independent and international films along with classic and retro film screenings of fan favorites and family friendly films. In total, The Frida screens more than 500 different films each year. Partnered events and film festivals have included the Orange County Latino International Film Festival, Horrible Imaginings Film Festival, Hola Mexico Film Festival, Los Angeles Arts Society Semi-Monthly Film Screening series, Next Generation of Filmmakers Festival, Orange County School of the Arts Steampunk Film Festival, and SIKHlens Film and Arts Festival.

Outdoor Drive-In and Pop-Up Cinema

The Frida hosts regular pop-up and drive-in screenings throughout Orange County, welcoming hundreds of guests to each outdoor event. Sometimes hosting more than one dozen outdoor screenings monthly, drive-in and pop-up cinema features retro classics and family friendly films on a jumbo screen with projected audio and FM transmission for drive-in screenings.

Student and Filmmaker Support

The Frida provides a quarterly internship programs which provide high school and college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in fields including graphic design, marketing, video editing, non-profit and movie theater operations, and creative writing. The Frida also provides a supportive home for independent filmmakers by offering services including film marketing, hosting premiere screenings, exhibition technical assistance, and fiscal sponsorship, where appropriate, for film production

DTSA First Saturday ArtWalk

ArtWalk is the second largest event in Santa Ana and provides opportunities for more than a dozen area galleries and dozens of local artists to showcase their works to more than 4,000 people on a monthly basis. The event has taken place monthly in Santa Ana for more than 20 years.
