Outcomes

Last year, we conducted senior surveys and received nearly 50 responses. Most respondents shared that their mental health had improved, felt more hopeful and uplifted—a testament to the power of community and culturally mindful programming. In our late 2024 senior survey with over 50 responses, here are the top 5 ways Olive made an impact:
• Learned new skills/knowledge/resources (54 responses, 29.19%)
• Olive has given me a purpose (23 responses, 12.43%)
• I feel less lonely and isolated (22 responses, 11.89%)
• I am more physically active (21 responses, 11.35%)
• Improved mood/reduced stress (21 responses, 11.35%)
These results reflect the impact of Olive’s mission: creating safe, inclusive spaces where seniors feel valued and supported. Whether it's through festive gatherings, health programs, language-accessible services, or friendship initiatives, we’re not just meeting basic needs—we're nurturing the emotional and social health of our seniors.

Olive Outdoors

Olive Outdoors is a signature intergenerational wellness program by Olive Community Services that invites older adults to connect with nature, community, and younger generations through monthly outdoor excursions. In proud partnership with the Art and Wilderness Institute (AWI), each nature walk is thoughtfully guided by young naturalists who share their knowledge of local ecology, fostering meaningful dialogue and learning across generations. These excursions—hosted in scenic parks, trails, and gardens across Southern California—promote physical activity, emotional well-being, and social connection in a safe and supportive environment. The intergenerational aspect of the program not only nurtures friendships and mutual respect but also bridges the gap between youth and elders through shared experiences in nature. With elements of storytelling, art, mindfulness, and cultural exploration woven into every outing, Olive Outdoors reflects Olive's commitment to holistic, inclusive, and joyful aging.
