TAVAN (Together for Advancement, Vitality, And Networking)

TAVAN is OCIACC’s workforce and business development initiative designed to support small businesses and underserved entrepreneurs through direct, practical, and impactful services. Through TAVAN, we provide one-on-one business consulting, workforce development, financial literacy education, and guidance on sustainable business practices—equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to build, grow, and sustain successful ventures. Focused on expanding access and opportunity, TAVAN serves as a bridge for those who often lack the resources and support systems necessary to thrive in today’s economy. This initiative, with pre-planning support from Jobs First Collaborative, is scheduled for full implementation in September 2026, marking a significant step forward in OCIACC’s commitment to economic empowerment and community impact.

Outcomes

We empower entrepreneurs annually with training, connect businesses to resources, and increase financial literacy and workforce participation in underserved communities as well as promote sustainable business practices. In the next 5 years we will provide one-on-one coaching and workshops to at least 1,500 entrepreneurs. Will expand training programs for 250 childcare providers, and administration through certifications, business operations training, and culturally competent care while connecting participants to financial resources to support startup costs, licensing, and facility improvements. We will connect at least 100 businesses to funding opportunities through financial literacy, loan-readiness workshops, and grant navigation assistance. In addition, 350+ new jobs will be created in disinvested communities by supporting home-based businesses, promoting economic mobility, and expanding opportunities in green economy.

OC Business Expo

A signature event connecting startups with investors and business leaders. The program includes networking, keynote speakers, and structured pitch sessions to foster investment in innovative ideas.

Relationship Mastery Series

A 6-month educational series in collaboration with clinical psychologists, focusing on mental health and relationship building in business, family, and community contexts. Designed for adults navigating personal and professional challenges.

Monthly Business Education Workshops

OCIACC’s Monthly Business Education Workshops provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with practical, hands-on learning opportunities to navigate today’s evolving business landscape. Each session is designed to deliver actionable insights on topics such as business strategy, marketing, access to capital, financial management, and operational growth. Led by experienced professionals, industry experts, and community partners, these workshops equip participants with the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions and drive sustainable success. Beyond education, these workshops create a collaborative environment where participants can ask questions, share experiences, and build meaningful connections with peers and mentors. By making business education accessible and relevant, OCIACC helps empower individuals to strengthen their businesses, increase resilience, and contribute to a thriving local economy.

Mehregan Sustainable Business Summit & Mixer OCIACC’s Mehregan Sustainable Business Summit & Mixer brings together entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders to explore sustainable business practices while celebrating the spirit of Mehregan—an ancient Iranian festival of gratitude, harvest, and community. Blending expert-led insights with meaningful networking, this event highlights topics such as clean energy, responsible sourcing, and sustainable growth—empowering businesses to succeed while making a positive impact on people and the planet. A unique platform to connect, learn, and lead toward a more sustainable future.
