Kristin Byrnes MS

CEO/Executive Director Experience

With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Kristin Byrnes has dedicated her career to leadership, strategic planning, program development, and organizational growth. Early on, she developed a deep passion for helping others, guided by a philosophy of respecting those facing poverty and empowering them to improve their own lives. As the President & CEO of Project Access, Ms. Byrnes has spearheaded the organization’s expansion, growing it to over 100 Resource Centers nationwide. Prior to joining Project Access, she held leadership roles in various nonprofit organizations, including Mercy Behavioral Health, where she focused on delivering impactful community services. Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the Women Making a Difference Award from State Senator Lou Correa and recognition as one of Women Helping Women’s Employment Leaders. In 2013, she was the featured CEO in OC Metro magazine, and in 2014, the Orange County Register named her one of the Most Influential People in Orange County. A former collegiate athlete, Ms. Byrnes attended La Roche College on a softball scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services with a minor in Gerontology. She later obtained a Master of Science in Professional Leadership, specializing in Nonprofit Management, from the University of Carlow in Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Byrnes continues to drive innovation and impact in the nonprofit sector, ensuring that underserved communities receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
