Mission Statement

Mission Statement:
Radiant Health Centers provides compassionate and comprehensive health services to all underserved individuals in Orange County, with a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community and those living with and affected by HIV.

Background Statement

Radiant Health Centers was established in 1986, when the HIV/AIDS epidemic was devastating communities and many individuals living with HIV faced significant stigma, discrimination, and barriers to care. What began as a grassroots response to an urgent public health crisis has grown into a comprehensive community health organization serving thousands of Orange County residents each year.

For nearly 40 years, Radiant has evolved alongside the needs of the community. While HIV remains central to our mission, our services have expanded to address the broader health and social needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and other underserved populations.

Radiant provides integrated healthcare and supportive services designed to meet people where they are. These services include primary care, HIV prevention and treatment, PrEP and PEP, STI testing, dental care, mental health counseling, substance use support, case management, housing assistance, food pantry services, pharmacy support, insurance enrollment, and health education.

Radiant also provides specialized programming for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults ages 12–26, including access to affirming resources and a gender-affirming wardrobe program.

In 2024, Radiant achieved FQHC Look-Alike status, strengthening its ability to provide accessible, high-quality, comprehensive healthcare while continuing to serve as a safe and affirming resource for the LGBTQ+ community and underserved populations throughout Orange County.

Impact Statement

Radiant Health Centers improves lives by removing barriers to healthcare and connecting individuals with the medical, behavioral health, and social services they need to thrive.

Each year, Radiant serves more than 5,000 lives throughout Orange County. Our integrated model allows individuals to access multiple services through one trusted organization, reducing barriers that can prevent people from receiving care. A person seeking an HIV test may also receive PrEP education. Someone living with HIV may receive primary care, behavioral health support, food assistance, and help securing stable housing. An LGBTQ+ young person may find affirming healthcare and a supportive environment where they can feel seen and accepted.

Radiant’s impact extends beyond individual clients. By expanding access to HIV prevention tools such as PrEP and PEP, providing testing and treatment, and promoting health education, Radiant contributes to reducing the spread of HIV and improving community health.

Our services also address the social and economic barriers that directly affect health outcomes. Food insecurity, housing instability, lack of insurance, mental health challenges, and fear of discrimination can all make it difficult for individuals to access or maintain healthcare. Radiant works to address these challenges together rather than treating them as isolated issues.

Through compassionate, affirming, and comprehensive care, Radiant helps people achieve better health outcomes, build stability, and live with greater dignity and confidence.

Needs Statement

Despite significant advances in healthcare and HIV prevention, many Orange County residents continue to face barriers to accessing affordable, culturally responsive, and LGBTQ+ affirming care.

HIV continues to disproportionately affect marginalized communities, while stigma and misinformation can prevent individuals from seeking testing, prevention services, and treatment. At the same time, LGBTQ+ individuals may experience discrimination or lack of culturally competent care within traditional healthcare settings. Youth and young adults can face additional challenges related to mental health, housing instability, food insecurity, and access to affirming resources.

Economic pressures have also increased the need for supportive services. Rising housing and food costs can force individuals to choose between basic necessities and healthcare. For people already experiencing financial instability, these barriers can have significant and long-term consequences for their health.

Radiant Health Centers needs continued community investment to ensure that essential healthcare and supportive services remain accessible to those who need them most. Funding helps Radiant expand HIV prevention and testing, provide comprehensive medical and behavioral healthcare, support LGBTQ+ youth, address food and housing insecurity, and reach underserved individuals throughout Orange County.

Community support is especially important as Radiant works to expand outreach and prevention efforts and ensure that individuals who may not otherwise seek care know that affirming, confidential, and compassionate services are available.

By investing in Radiant Health Centers, donors and community partners help create a healthier Orange County where every person—regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, HIV status, income, or circumstances—has the opportunity to access quality care and live a healthy and fulfilling life.
