St Jude Neighborhood Health Centers
OUR STORY
Through our faith-based centers, we improve the health and well-being of low-income persons in the communities we serve.
Mission Statement
Through our faith-based centers, we improve the health and well-being of low-income persons in the communities we serve.
Background Statement
St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers was formed in 2011 by St. Jude Medical Center whose clinic programs to serve the poor began in 1988 with a mobile prenatal care clinic. In 1989, a mobile pediatric clinic began serving the community and in 1999 a mobile was launched to provide care to adults. Also in 1999, we partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Buena Park to operate their dental clinic. In 2006, the St. Jude Neighborhood Health Center, in partnership with the City of Fullerton, was opened in Richman Park, a City of Fullerton park. The clinic was opened in response to the request of low-income residents who stated that they needed a clinic in their neighborhood. St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers was formed as a separate non-profit corporation in 2011 in order to ensure long-term sustainability. The health center applied for and received designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center in November 2013. In May 2015 the St. Joseph Hospital community clinics, La Amistad Health Center and Puente A La Salud Mobile Clinics were merged under St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers and an affiliation with St. Joseph Hospital was added. The Board of Directors was expanded to include patients and community members representing the clinics in Orange. In 2021 we opened a Health Center at Anaheim's Ponderosa Park that brings affordable, high-qualify medical (prenatal, pediatric and adult care) and dental service to the Ponderosa neighborhood. In Spring 2024, St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers introduced a new look and three logos. To highlight collaboration and hospital investment in local care, our clinic names now reflect their partner hospitals: St. Jude Neighborhood Health, St. Joseph Neighborhood Health, and St. Mary Neighborhood Health. As an organization, we remain St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers, with the same vision and mission.
