Vattana Peong

CEO/Executive Director Experience

With more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector in the U.S. and abroad, Vattana has been a dedicated advocate for health equity and has led numerous initiatives to reduce health and mental health disparities through culturally and linguistically responsive services and policies. Under his leadership, TCF has undergone significant growth. Vattana has secured more than $25 million in grant and contract funding, expanded the organization’s programs from 8 to over 26, and increased staffing from 3 employees in 2015 to more than 30 in 2025. His work has strengthened TCF’s capacity in behavioral health, community health access, family support, and immigrant integration services. Vattana has held several influential leadership and advisory roles, including co-chair of the County of Orange Health Care Agency’s Behavioral Health Services Cultural Competency Committee; member of the State of California Cultural and Linguistic Competence Committee; and community co-chair of the Orange County Health Improvement Partnership. He also served with the National Network to Eliminate Disparities in Behavioral Health (NNED) and previously served on the Hospital Community Board at Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center. In April 2025, through Vattana’s leadership and community advocacy, the City of Santa Ana and the Orange County Board of Supervisors proclaimed April as Cambodian Heritage Month. His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including the 2022 Asian Pacific Islander Leadership Award and the 2018 Emerging Leader Award. His work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Spectrum News 1, the Orange County Register, Voice of OC, San Francisco Chronicle, and ABC7. Vattana is bilingual in English/Khmer (Cambodian) and holds a Master of Public Health degree from California State University, Fullerton.
