PROGRAMS

Drilling Wells

We know that we cannot solve the world water crisis or even the Uganda water crisis through our efforts alone, but we can, and have, developed procedures whereby a donation of $8,000 will finance the drilling of a borehole water well and will supply clean, life saving and sight saving water for a village of 1,000 men, women and children. We have a 100% donation model, whereby every penny of the $8,000 goes only to drilling costs and ongoing maintenance.

Budget
$480,000
Outcomes

Long term success will be accomplished when we have inspired other charities to duplicate our procedures throughout Uganda, and hopefully all areas of the world where clean water is easily reached by borehole water wells.

Rehabilitation of Government Wells

In Uganda, each district has an average of 200-400 abandoned, in-operable wells. These wells were not drilled by Wells of Life, but rather by the national government or other NGOs, some of them as long as a decade ago. A donation of $4000 will restore one well. This program sets out to rehabilitate these wells, giving water back to these communities.  We will then carry the flag of ensuring these wells continue to function into the future.

Budget
$400,000
Outcomes

Rehabilitating 1,000's of wells and ensuring they continue to function for the villages served.

Healthy Village Program [WASH]

In 2019 we piloted our WASH program that we have since renamed our Healthy Village Program. Once water access is achieved through drilling or restoration of a water well, the community receives educational training on health and hygiene practices to prevent contamination and waterborne illnesses. The program requires intense education and takes 9 months to 1 year to implement. Water Access: A borehole water well that is located near the village center. The community is also educated on how to maintain a fundraising process dedicated to well repair, and how to contact Wells of Life or a pump mechanic to ensure the well maintains functionality! Sanitation: Educate on how to build and use latrines, ending Open Defecation and thus eliminating fecal contamination. Teach the community to maintain a sanitary “well-site” including fencing, clean jerry cans, and a clean water source area. Hygiene: Educate and assist communities in building and using hand-washing stations, raised drying stations to dry dishes without ground contamination, and teach them how to use rubbish pits for burning contaminated rubbish. Provide handwashing stations in schools and supply all girls with reusable female hygiene kits to improve school attendance.

Budget
$150,000
Outcomes

Provide education in hygiene and sanitation to ensure communities receive the greatest benefit of water access and reduce waterborne illnesses, thus creating a reprieve for local medical centers and saving countless lives.
