Mission Statement
With Hope, the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation is dedicated to suicide prevention through improving mental health awareness and education in our schools and throughout our community.
Background Statement
On May 25, 2005, Amber Craig, a 14-year-old freshman student at El Dorado High School in Orange County, CA died by suicide. Amber was an avid soccer player for both her club soccer team and the El Dorado High School women's varsity soccer team. Amber was a beautiful, loving, creative, strong, and yet deeply hurting young woman. As a result of Amber's death, With Hope, the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation was born.
With Hope Foundation believes as a community we can help our youth negotiate through troubled times. With Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention. We provide educational presentations on suicide prevention and mental health awareness in schools and throughout communities. These life-saving presentations educate, equip, and empower individuals with the facts about suicide, recognize the warning signs, and provide necessary resources for help for themselves or for others. Since 2005, With Hope Foundation, has been committed to supporting schools' efforts in suicide prevention and mental health awareness sharing our program message "Never Promise to Keep this Secret!" We have pledged to make available to schools and communities, speakers, tool kits, and support resources to effectively educate individuals and prevent the tragedy of teen suicide.
In addition to our school and community-based suicide prevention programs, With Hope Foundation provides resources and support services to individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide through our Friends With Hope Survivor of Suicide Loss Bereavement Support Group. Research shows that good postvention support is prevention.
With Hope, the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation firmly believes that community partnership, support, ad education are vital in the prevention of teen suicide.
Impact Statement
Over the next decade, With Hope, the Amber Craig Memorial Foundation’s primary focus will be to educate, equip and empower youth/teens aged 10-24, school staff, parents, caregivers, and community members in suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Our objective is to provide school and community-based programs and community outreach events that reduce the risk of suicide by providing education, resources for help, and tools to implement critical crisis intervention throughout California. Our goal is to impact the greatest number of individuals by recognizing the symptoms of depression, the warning signs of suicide and promoting our message of hope and help through our motto “Never Promise to Keep this Secret.”
