CEO/Executive Director Experience

Mario A. Ortega has served as Chief Executive Officer of Abrazar, Inc. since 2003, leading the organization through more than two decades of growth, innovation, and community impact. Under his leadership, Abrazar has expanded into one of Orange County's leading nonprofit organizations, providing comprehensive services that improve the health, education, financial stability, and overall well-being of children, families, older adults, and individuals with disabilities. Mr. Ortega earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining Abrazar, he spent nearly a decade in public accounting and consulting, including experience with a Big Six international public accounting firm, where he specialized in auditing nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and government-funded programs. This financial and operational expertise has strengthened Abrazar's organizational capacity, fiscal stewardship, and long-term sustainability. During his tenure, Mr. Ortega has overseen the successful administration of millions of dollars in federal, state, county, foundation, and private funding while developing innovative programs that address transportation, healthy aging, early childhood development, financial empowerment, housing stability, community health, and youth development. He has built strong partnerships with public agencies, healthcare organizations, school districts, foundations, and community-based organizations throughout Orange County to improve access to essential services for underserved populations. In addition to his leadership at Abrazar, Mr. Ortega serves on numerous regional advisory councils, coalitions, and collaborative initiatives focused on advancing health equity, economic mobility, aging services, and community well-being. He is recognized as a collaborative leader and trusted advocate who works to develop sustainable, community-driven solutions that improve outcomes for Orange County residents.
