PROGRAMS

Emergency Needs Program

FSN provides basic needs items, such as diapers, food, clothing, baby formula, and cribs to families having children with a special need. Thanks to strong community partnerships with Costco, Walmart, Vans Shoes, local churches and individual community members, FSN receives 1,000s of donated items every month.  Families need to be referred for these resources through a social worker or program coordinator.

Budget
$25,000
Outcomes

Over the years, FSN's emergency needs program has helped thousands of families who have children with special needs. Families who benefit from the emergency needs program must be referred by a professional working with the family (social workers, public health nurses, etc.).  This program has had a great deal of success averaging over 1000 individuals and families served each year.

Bloom Behavior Coaching

Children up to the age of 5 who have been referred for behavioral concerns through a Developmental Screening , are eligible for 5 sessions of parental coaching for behavior modification interventions. A certified Child, Family Life Educator works directly with parents to discuss options for their child and to assist in finding more therapeutic help when needed. These children do not have a specific diagnosis, but are at risk without proper evaluation.

Budget
$125,000
Outcomes

Parents are given interventions to help their children have better peer relationships and to have more meaningful communication between parent and child.

Developmental Screening Program

For children 0-5, early intervention therapists provide community-based screenings covering the following areas: gross and fine motor skills, speech, audiology, vision, dental, behavior and emotional issues, and other health concerns.  Each screener will document any concerns and note whether or not a referral is needed to another agency for evaluation. FSN then offers the family assistance in making the appropriate connections to community support.

Budget
$160,000
Outcomes

By attending a Developmental Screening, children age 0-5 gain access to the early intervention services they may need to help them get the best possible outcomes in the early, formative years of their lives.

Voice Options Program

In partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation, FSN offers the Voice Options Program to eligible Californians of all ages who are unable to speak, or who have difficulty speaking, with a free speech-generating device. There are 6 approved speech generating applications that are reviewed with the client for the best outcome for them personally. Clients are trained in the use of the device and encouraged to use the device for emergency purposes as well as daily communication.

Budget
$60,000
Outcomes

The goal of this program is to ensure that individuals having difficulty with speech are able to communicate with friends and family and are offered full and equal telephone communications access.

The R.E.A.C.H Program

Program R.E.A.C.H stands for resources, education, advocacy, compassion, and help. Parent Mentors for this program offer clients of the Regional Center of Orange County assistance in system navigation and direction when applying for community based benefits such as: In Home Support Services, Social Security, Medi-Cal, etc. Our mentors assist clients in finding support when considering the conservatorship process, navigating the healthcare system, working with the school district on IEP's, and other community resources such as food scarcity assistance, housing, support groups, and issues related to transitioning into adult care.

Budget
$200,000
Outcomes

When caring for anyone with special needs, the list of "needs" a family might experience can feel overwhelming and daunting. With REACH, families feel supported and they are able to develop a sense of hope and a better understanding of the system set in place to help them. This gives them all a sense of hope and security for a more positive future.
