Resident Services
Jamboree’s affordable housing developments are a platform for measurable community outcomes. We bring community organizations together in healthcare, education, and economic development to work collaboratively to help cities address the pressing needs they identify as priority. Through our Resident Services provided onsite at our properties, we work to improve educational outcomes, enhance nutrition and health, increase access to medical and mental health services for families and children, and provide affordable age-in-place support for seniors. These services are critical to maintaining housing stability, preventing homelessness, and improving the lives of each of our residents. Resident services include: • CalAIM Community Supports: Provided for residents with complex health, disability, and/or behavioral health conditions who are moving into housing from homelessness. Community supports include but are not limited to Day Habilitation, Tenancy and Sustaining Services, Navigation, Housing Deposits, Short-term Post Hospitalization, and Enhanced Care Management. Services are guided by best practices such as Housing First, Harm Reduction, Progressive Engagement, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care. • Families: Our goal is to create living environments that foster learning, healthy living, and empowerment for families in our properties and surrounding neighborhoods. We provide afterschool programs, life skills classes, healthy living events, and community building activities. • Seniors: We develop age-in-place properties where seniors can thrive with access to enriched services, including fitness/nutritional resources, medical support, social interaction, and education, among others. • Permanent Supportive Housing: We use a housing first model to provide families experiencing homelessness with services to ensure long-term housing stability. Our services include: medication and dual diagnosis services; intensive care management; 24/7 crisis services; support groups; and therapeutic rehabilitation.
Jamboree measures consistent improvements to our residents’ wellbeing through a survey-based evaluation tool that assesses resident satisfaction, determines community needs, and informs adjustments as needed. In 2024, we completed third-party study to measure the economic impact of living in a Jamboree property. Key findings include:
• 42% reported annual household incomes under $25,000 and another 35% reported $26,000-$50,000 for the entire household
• 83% of respondents reported consistently paying rent on time
• 65% of residents living in a Jamboree community reported they are able to keep a steady job
• 60% reported paying their monthly expenses on time
• 41% reported having more regular access to food
Taken together, the findings from this study revealed that living at Jamboree properties is changing lives and communities in positive ways.
Permanent Supportive Housing
Jamboree’s Permanent Supportive Housing connects formerly homeless and/or mentally ill individuals and families to permanent affordable housing and ongoing supportive services designed to help them maintain housing stability and improve their lives. We use a housing first model to provide individuals and families experiencing homelessness with services to ensure long-term housing stability. Our services include: medication and dual diagnosis services; intensive case management; 24/7 crisis services; support groups; and therapeutic rehabilitation. Jamboree takes a comprehensive approach to PSH, where the fundamental pillars of housing are carefully constructed to create a safe and nurturing environment. This approach acknowledges that stable housing is the foundation upon which higher-level needs and goals are built. In our holistic perspective, these four pillars are integral to creating a successful PSH community: Safe and Nurturing Environment: The primary foundation is providing residents with a safe and stable place to call home. A secure and nurturing physical environment is the cornerstone upon which residents can build their lives. In recent surveys, 62% of PSH residents reported feeling safe in their community and 100% reported trusting staff to help them. Addressing Mental Health and Health Needs: Recognizing that many residents may have mental health challenges or medical conditions, our approach includes comprehensive health services. By addressing these needs, we ensure that residents can focus on their personal growth and well-being. Since moving into Jamboree’s PSH, 62% of residents with mental illness reported getting all the mental health care they need and 74% of those with physical illness reported getting all the physical health care they need. Gainful Employment and Self-Sufficiency: To empower residents to remain housed and maintain their sense of dignity, we emphasize employment and self-sufficiency. This means providing opportunities, training, and support to help individuals become self-reliant and engaged members of society. Since moving into PSH, 40% of respondents reporting being able to get or maintain employment and 69% reported being better able to control their lives. Building Connections: A sense of belonging is essential for anyone's well-being. We encourage residents to connect with their community, explore their faith or spirituality, and engage in various activities. These connections foster a sense of belonging and purpose. Within our communities, 70% of residents reported feeling like their neighbors care about their wellbeing and 59% reported their support system is stronger since moving into their residence. Achieving this holistic vision of PSH requires a strategic approach, combining affordable housing with the precise services that residents need, precisely when they need them. By integrating the right services at the right time, we aim to ensure that individuals and families have the support necessary to address their unique needs, overcome challenges, and work toward a brighter and more stable future. In all, 62% of residents in a recent survey reported feeling happier and more optimistic about their future since moving into their current residence. In light of these outcomes, our focus is not only on providing shelter but also on empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives and ultimately break the cycle of homelessness.
The goal of PSH is not just housing; the focus is whole person health and well-being, empowering individuals to break the cycle of homelessness. It’s providing the tools and resources at the right moment to help them regain independence and build a healthier, more stable future for themselves.
Over the next year, at least 800 individuals who have experienced homelessness and/or mentally illness will receive permanent housing and supportive services at Jamboree’s 16 Permanent Supportive Housing properties in California.
