CEO/Executive Director Experience

Joel Robinson founded Naturalist For You in 2006. Over the course of his 25-year career in the environmental field, Joel has offered his professional services as an environmental educator, habitat restoration specialist, non-profit manager, nature-based curriculum developer, teacher trainer and volunteer coordinator in Orange, CA. As the director and senior naturalist of Naturalist For You (NFY), he has committed the the past 20 years to offering high quality guided walks/hikes, classroom presentations, workshops, citizen science biological surveys and urban habitat restoration activities for the benefit of the general public, school groups, scouts, religious institutions, businesses, public agencies, nonprofits and community groups throughout Orange County and beyond. NFY efforts have touched more than 50,000 people — children and adults in roughly equal measure. Prior to NFY, he worked for 9 years as a park naturalist for Santa Ana Parks and Recreation at Santiago Park, 5 ½ years as a naturalist with The Nature Conservancy on the Irvine Ranch and 1 school year as a field naturalist with Inside the Outdoors. His primary duties were guiding interpretive walks, leading school field trips, developing tour scripts, training docents, managing a native plant nursery, habitat restoration, biological surveys, hosting campfire programs and promoting our activities. He had a 6 month stint as a ranger and habitat restoration specialist with The Wildlands Conservancy on the 93,000-acre Wind Wolves Preserve.
