Save Orange Hills

We are a non-profit, non-partisan citizens group that seeks to safeguard 396 acres of land in the Orange Hills that are nestled between Irvine Regional Park and Peters Canyon Regional Park, and are now threatened by imminent development.

Budget
$100,000
Outcomes

We want to work with The Irvine Company, the landowner, to:

Preserve this land for the benefit of fragile habitats and wildlife.
Preserve this land for use and enjoyment by future generations.

We want to work with non-profit groups and public agencies to:

Protect wildlife by connecting Irvine Regional Park and Peters Canyon Regional Parks, tying together 1,245 acres, thereby saving the link to the Santa Ana Mountains.
Establish multi-use, environmentally sensitive public trails, special conservation areas for fragile species, and protection for a prehistoric Native American village site.

We are advancing our mission with a focus on three main areas:

Increase awareness of The Irvine Company’s newly revised plans — submitted to the City of Orange just last month — to build 1,058 residential lots in this unspoiled area.
Discourage by available legal and political means the Company’s development plans.
Encourage The Irvine Company to negotiate a sale and open space preservation agreement, while marshaling the resources needed to facilitate such an agreement.
