Refugee Settlement Efforts
Camp BidiBidi is a South Sudanese refugee settlement in Uganda, Africa. At one point it was the worlds largest refugee settlement reaching numbers over a quarter million displaced Sudanese, mostly women and children fleeing unrelenting war and violence. Many children are orphaned, women widowed, and all left hopeless in a foreign land with little to no resources. Operation Mourning to Gladness is a project designed to reach these beautiful refugees through a six fold approach including (but not limited to) pastoral training, Faith Comes by Hearing listening programs, widow care, church and development, providing for acutely malnourished children, and caring for pregnant women.
Outcome 1.0: Camp Bidi Bidi children will receive consistent nutrition, proper medical care, and suitable clothing.
Outcome 2.0: The 560 sponsored children in additional cities will be able to study because they are healthy due to consistent nutrition, and proper medical care.
Outcome 3.0: The children in the schools will hear the Word of God on Proclaimers.
Outcome 4.0: The trafficked teens and women at the Promise House of Hope will attend Proclaimer listening groups, and begin job training while receiving food, and proper medical care.
Outcome 5.0: Every single child and caretaker will hear the Word of God and the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ through Proclaimer listening groups and attendance at local bible studies.
Promise of Hope House
In 2015, Promise Child began working with women in Arua, Uganda that have been through the most horrific experiences that one could imagine. By providing them a safe shelter, we can keep them from the terrors of human trafficking. We not only have an outreach program that is reaching girls on the street with God’s Word weekly, but our Promise of Hope House has a 18-month discipleship program bringing these young ladies off of the street and caring for their every need. Most importantly, this 18-month program is an internship that allows them to get grounded in the Word of God and serve within the body of a local church in Arua. Graduating students receive job training, can continue in Christian education, can go through more extensive discipleship training, and many are in college being provided for through our Jeremiah Fund.
We’ve had the pleasure of serving young women with a wide range of needs and trauma throughout the years. Although it’s difficult to hear these stories and see the pain many women worldwide wrongfully suffer, it’s necessary. We need to listen to their voices, see their faces, and meet their needs!
Promise Child America
In America, Promise Child works differently than other countries around the world. We have found that child sponsorship in America is complicated and lacks accountability. However, we have the heart to reach children and their families in the United States during times of crisis and, of course, with the Gospel message through various outreach opportunities. We strive to stay actively engaged with the needs of our local communities and our nation. This leads us to be flexible in our approach to reaching America. We work closely with local churches, respond to national disasters, fund school concert outreaches, support Christ-centered family crisis centers, and engage in feeding programs in underserved communities.
During the COVID19 pandemic, we have been able to partner with Calvary Chapel Hope Central in Watts, LA, where Pastor Jose Hernandez works with local LAPD to bring food and other essentials to a few communities. These communities are notorious for poverty, gang violence, prostitution, and drugs in Los Angeles, California. Hundreds of families have been met with physical and spiritual healing in this time. We also partner with Hope Central Watts in an annual youth retreat. 30-50 students from Watts, LA travel to Oakhurst, California, where they will experience actives and games, times of worship, devotions and messages, and so much more. Unfortunately, students in the inner-city often don’t have the access or means to attend conferences or retreats; that’s where we can partner and sponsor students to attend these often life-changing events where they can encounter Christ.
Jeremiah Project
In each of our countries, we identify students who have significant academic potential from time to time. Very few children we work with would ever have the opportunity to go to college and would never be able to afford to pay for higher education themselves. This fund allows these exemplary students to attend college with the understanding that they make a two-year commitment to serve in the church, using the skills that they have acquired once they have graduated. Many of our early Jeremiah Project beneficiaries are studying in the medical field, knowing they can serve at the two hospitals supported through CC Midigo & Promise Child. Another graduated from the university and is now teaching at the Midigo Primary School. Our goal is to see gifted students be able to receive the best education possible and use those gifts for the glory of God.
Unfortunately, high school (often referred to as secondary school) is not seen as necessary, is difficult to access, and is very expensive in many areas of the world. Typical child sponsorship is often unable to meet the school fees and requirements for secondary education. Because of this, our Jeremiah Project funds step in and supplement child sponsorship limitations to allow students to continue their education in high school, college, and beyond. In many cases, higher education is the best way for the next generation to break poverty, corruption, and violence cycles.
Promise Child Sponsorship
The Promise Child Sponsorship Program is a holistic, Christ-centered initiative designed to rescue, educate, and disciple vulnerable children living in extreme poverty. Operating in five key regions—including Haiti, Uganda, South Sudan, East Africa, and South Asia—the program currently supports over 1,200 children by pairing them with sponsors for $25 a month (or $180 annually through their "Next Grade Fund").
1. The Core Pillars of Care
Every sponsored child receives personalized, localized care focused on four essential areas: Nutritional Support: Providing hot school meals and essential family grocery packages so children are healthy enough to learn.
Educational Opportunity: Covering tuition, uniforms, and school supplies for K-12 schooling. For older students with high potential, the program also supports post-secondary and vocational training.
Life-Saving Medical Care: Supplying malaria nets, preventative care, and emergency clinical treatments.
Spiritual Discipleship: Partnering directly with native, indigenous churches to introduce children to the Gospel, lead weekly Bible studies, and distribute audio Bibles in native tribal languages.
