Mission Statement
To provide free sailing lessons to the disabled and to wounded veterans in local areas.
Background Statement
Started in 1996 and operating twelve months per year. We have successfully taught hundreds of disabled sailors the skills needed to operate a small sailboat. 3 on the board and 31 volunteer skippers. No salaries drawn.
Impact Statement
Sailing Facsination was built on the principle that having a disability does not have to keep any person from enjoying time on the water aboard a sail boat!
Manned by a crew of two 30-year sailing veterans, including the Captain who is handicapped himself, Sailing Fascination’s desire is to increase the quality of life and bring hope and joy into the lives of those with disabilities.
At Sailing Fascination, we want each of our students to believe that their disability is only as limiting as their desires.
By providing free sailing lessons and increased access to Newport Harbor, individuals are able to build of self esteem through controlling a sail boat.
