Mental Health Program

Shanti OC’s Mental Health Program provides safe, affirming, trauma-informed care to low-income, uninsured, LGBTQ+, and other vulnerable Orange County residents. Delivered by masters- and doctoral-level clinicians, the program offers weekly services in person and via telehealth, with therapy available in English and Spanish. Services include individual therapy, psychological testing, peer support, and care navigation. Using universal trauma screenings, clinicians identify co-occurring challenges, make referrals to medical care and social services as needed, and partner with clients to create tailored treatment plans grounded in each person’s strengths and lived experience.

Outcomes

Throughout 2025, our clinicians provided targeted mental health interventions and ongoing emotional support designed to strengthen coping strategies, improve health outcomes, and reduce risks associated with substance use and other maladaptive behaviors. Guided by a holistic, trauma-informed approach, Shanti OC ensured that each client received individualized, culturally competent care, enhancing both their mental well-being and overall resilience. As a result, we achieved the following outcomes during 2025:

• Provided trauma-informed therapy to 1,511 youth and adults who struggle with mental health and/or substance abuse disorder, surpassing our goal of serving 1,500 individuals.
• 80% of clients with substance use disorder reported reduced levels of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, domestic violence issues, and social isolation. Clinicians also observed improvements in clients’ quality of life and self-empowerment as a result of ongoing treatment plans.
• 89% of individuals with concurrent issues of addiction and HIV have an undetectable viral load. Through case management, clinicians supported clients in improving adherence to medical treatment and medication compliance.
• Provided 50 clients Psychological Testing and treatment plans, leading to improved management of neurodivergence and reduced symptoms, meeting our goal of 50.
• Provided outreach to 3,000 people at over 30 events not only enhancing public health awareness but also contributing to the growth of our Mental Health and Case Management programs, allowing us to connect with more LGBTQ+ individuals in need of services.
