SoulRapha
OUR STORY
SoulRapha® is ending senior isolation and loneliness. Rapha—the Hebrew word for healing—is at our core. Rooted in compassion, innovation, and human dignity, SoulRapha fosters mutual healing by restoring connection and purpose across generations. Through education-focused, community-driven programs, we empower individuals to engage deeply with older adults—building empathy, trust, curiosity, creativity, and belonging.
Our signature initiatives—SMILES, Soul Healing Heroes, and CareTRAK—provide hands-on, intergenerational experiences that bridge youth and elders while addressing critical workforce shortages in aging care. These sacred exchanges are forming soul-healers and transforming not just individual lives but the cultural systems that shape aging in America.
Like the Shema—a prayer whispered at life’s beginning and end—SoulRapha is forging a holy rhythm that calls each generation to heal, connect, and lead with empathy so no elder is ever forgotten. It is a movement of memory and mission—where love is passed like breath, from the first word to the last.
Mission Statement
Ending senior isolation and loneliness.
Background Statement
There is a quiet kind of loneliness that lives behind closed doors — in aging care communities where days pass without meaningful touch, without being truly seen. At the same time, a generation of young people searches for something real, something deeper than screens. Two worlds separated by time and circumstance. But what if they were never meant to be apart?
Impact Statement
The Mosaic Movement addresses two intersecting crises in Orange County: senior isolation and youth disconnection. Through a structured intergenerational model integrating empathy education, adaptive movement, and relationship-based engagement, the program brings high school students and older adults together in a way that serves both populations simultaneously.
SoulRapha brings access to senior care communities, empathy curriculum, and evaluation capacity. Our collaborative partners contribute adaptive movement expertise — ensuring physical engagement is safe, joyful, and accessible across all ability levels, while fostering storytelling and identity through choreography. Together we form a living biopsychosocial ecosystem — Biological (movement), Psychological (empathy), Social (connection) — that no single organization could deliver alone.
Needs Statement
Every day in Orange County, thousands of seniors living in care facilities face a quiet crisis that no medication can treat: isolation. Separated from family, stripped of familiar routines, and often invisible to the broader community, these elders experience loneliness at rates that rival the most serious public health threats of our time. Research confirms that chronic isolation accelerates cognitive decline, worsens depression, and shortens life — yet it remains one of the most underfunded challenges in elder care.
Dignity does not end at the door of a care facility. Yet for many seniors, the emotional and spiritual connections that make life meaningful become harder and harder to sustain. They are not simply aging — they are grieving: the loss of independence, loved ones, and a sense of purpose.
SoulRapha exists to restore what isolation takes away. Through consistent, compassionate outreach and intergenerational programming, we bring volunteers, youth, and community into care facilities to sit with, celebrate, and genuinely see the seniors who live there. We don't just deliver services; we deliver presence.
Orange County's senior population is growing rapidly, and the need for dignified, human-centered connection has never been greater. Your support on Giving Day helps SoulRapha ensure that no elder spends their days unseen, unloved, or forgotten.

Statement from the CEO/Executive Director
Nothing is more powerful than a life healed: body, mind, and soul
Statement from the Board Chair/President
Do you remember being the new kid in school—the difficulty of making new friends, finding your place? Now imagine the challenges an older adult faces as they age and lose longtime companions, familiar routines, and a sense of home. The emotions that come with that transition—grief, uncertainty, longing—are profound.
Isolation among seniors was already reaching crisis levels before the world changed in recent years, and its effects on mental, emotional, and physical health are now impossible to ignore. The research is clear: loneliness is as harmful as any chronic illness.
SoulRapha was built for this moment. Through a unique blend of technology and deeply human connection, we've created a community outreach model that is consistent, efficient, sustainable, and scalable—meeting seniors where they are and ensuring our vital services grow alongside the need. Our signature programs, SMILES, Soul Healing Heroes, and CareTRAK, bring young people and elders together in ways that restore dignity, spark joy, and remind every participant that they are not alone.
Keeping community and seniors connected to love is possible—because at its core, this work is about nurturing emotional and spiritual bonds that sustain us all.
